Anxiety and depression

Lately you have not felt like yourself, and you cannot quite say when that started.

Whether the anxiety or the low mood has been around for a long time or just arrived, you are looking for a therapist who will take the time to actually understand what is going on for you. My primary practice is with parents, and most of my clients arrive through that door. But many of the same skills, the same therapeutic relationship, and the same evidence-based methods apply to anxiety and depression outside the parenting context too. If you have been referred here by someone who knows me, or you have found me through another route, you are welcome.

Who this is for

Some of this might sound familiar.

Not a checklist to pass or fail. Just the shapes this tends to take, in case it helps to see them named.

You are an adult navigating anxiety, depression, or both, and you are looking for a therapist who is grounded, experienced, and not in a hurry.

Someone you trust has recommended me.

You want to know what working with me would actually look like.

You are not yourself, and you cannot quite remember when that started.

You want a space to figure it out.

The anxiety has been around for a long time, or it just arrived.

The therapy you have done before either worked for a while and stopped, or you have never tried it.

You want to work with a clinician who is qualified, paced, and willing to follow your lead, not someone who will run a protocol on you.

If you see yourself in even one of these, you are in the right place.

What this might feel like

What this might feel like

In their own words. Some of what people say, before they have a name for it.

I have been carrying this longer than I have let on. I am tired, and I do not know which piece to start with.

I know I am not okay. I do not need someone to tell me what is wrong with me. I need someone to help me figure out what to do with it.

How I work

How I work with anxiety and depression

The work is paced around what you can actually carry. Most clients arrive with a sense that something needs to change and a clearer sense of what they are tired of. We start there. The first sessions are reflective and slower; we get curious about the shape of your week, your body, your relationships, your history with this kind of difficulty. The picture clarifies as we go. The methods I use are trauma informed, evidence-based and adapted to you, not to a protocol: Internal Family Systems for the parts of you that have been working so hard for so long, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for the thoughts that spiral and will not stop, polyvagal-informed work for a nervous system that has been running hot or shut down, attachment-aware perspective for the patterns from the relationships that shaped you, and narrative therapy for the stories you have inherited about who you are supposed to be.

You will not be diagnosed by me. You will not be rushed. We will work at the pace your nervous system can hold, and we will be honest about what is shifting, what still needs more time, and what is yours to change versus what is the world around you asking too much.

Frequently asked questions

No. My primary practice is with parents, which is what most of my website focuses on, but I am qualified and experienced in working with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and other things that are not parenting-specific. If someone has referred you to me and you are not a parent, that is fine. We start with what you are bringing in.

We start with a free 15-minute phone call. You tell me what is going on, I ask a few questions, and we decide together whether I am the right fit. If during the call I think someone else would serve you better, I will tell you and point you toward what I know of in your area. The first session itself is also a fit conversation: we work together, and either of us can name it if the work is not landing.

Where to next
